Introduction of Activities
In Lake Shikotsuko and its surroundings, we recommend activities that take advantage of the clean water and abundant nature. Kayaking and Canoeing are exceptional activities to enjoy the clear lake and quiet lakeside, but walking and cycling are recommended here as they are easy to participate in. Both of these activities are an extraordinary world that you cannot experience in the city. Please enjoy walking and cycling in the style of Lake Shikotsuko.
“Shikotsuko style” walking is a leisurely stroll along the lakeside, experiencing the changing of the seasons with all your senses. We recommend walking with a guide or an expert who is familiar with the local conditions of the area. Learning a bit of knowledge from the history of Lake Shikotsuko will stimulate your intellectual curiosity. At the Visitor Center, you can learn about the nature and life of Lake Shikotsuko through exhibits and enjoy a powerful video presentation. From individuals to families and groups. Everyone is welcome.
An environmentally friendly electric bicycle is the standard for Lake Shikotsu-style cycling. You can enjoy it on your own bicycle. You can also rent an electric bicycle from the Visitor Center (please check the number of rental bicycles as they are limited). The roads around Lake Shikotsuko have few traffic lights, making for a smooth ride. Most of the routes introduced here are bicycle paths, so you can enjoy cycling at your own pace while feeling the wind in your face.
